CUMBRIA QUiz 2012

During the very poor summer of 2012 the Cumberland and Westmorland Wrestling Association ran a fundraising quiz on the subject of CUMBRIA which proved very popular. Several people have commented on how much they enjoyed completing the quiz. The questions were wide ranging and contained just two about wrestling:

The first wrestling question "who teks hod", which translates as "who takes hold" required the answer "Cumberland and Westmorland Wrestlers".

The second was "where did the famous wrestler George Steadman come from?" which caught out quite a few people. The correct answer was "Great Asby" which is near Appleby. The quiz was enjoyed by a lot of people and 233 completed entries were returned.

Of those, 56 were 100% correct. So the result had to be decided by a draw, the result of which is shown below

We are very grateful to Ullswater Steamers and Max Carlisle from near Blackpool, who jointly provided our prize money.

Also a very big "thank you" to everyone who helped - to those who bought the quiz sheets and also to all those people who sold the quiz around the county at wrestling events and elsewhere. (Chris Bland)
