Wilf Brocklebank

'Big Wilf' - Heavyweight

Born in 1929; Died early August 1994. Only started wrestling at the age of 32 in 1961.

A dry stone waller by trade, he weighed 19 st. His first win was at Egremont Crab Fair in 1963.

He won at Grasmere for the first time in 1968, and was at his peak from 1971 - 73.

In 1971 he won 33 heavyweight titles including Grasmere.

In 1972 he was voted 'Lakeland Sportsman of the Year'.

In 1973 he won his largest number of competitions - 38.

At the age of 60 he competed in the Alwinton Show for prize money worth £1,000, but was beaten by the eventual winner.
